Red Hills, Lake County, California
Hawk & Horse Vineyards
High-elevation, biodynamic Cabernet grown on red volcanic soil.
The story
Where the wine comes from
Hawk & Horse farms a high-elevation estate in the Red Hills of Lake County, north of Napa Valley, where iron-rich red volcanic soil and wide day-to-night temperature swings shape small, concentrated Cabernet berries.
The estate is farmed biodynamically and certified, with livestock, cover crops and compost doing work that most vineyards hand to chemistry. It is a working ranch as much as a vineyard.
It is exactly the kind of producer this platform exists for: serious wine, tiny production, and almost no chance of finding it at a grocery store three time zones away.

Philosophy
Farm the ground so the wine has somewhere to come from. Certified biodynamic, dry-farmed where possible, and picked for structure rather than sheer ripeness.
